Course Information:
South Korea had adopted a policy of imbalanced economic development focusing on the southeastern part of South Korea as its locus of industrial investment. The most severe economic imbalance took place between the Seoul metropolitan area and the rest. Specifically, it enacted “Special Law for Decentralization” in 2003 and established the Presidential Committee on Government Innovation & Decentralization as a main vehicle to push its 5-year “Roadmap for Decentralization.” As to balanced development, the Roh administration enacted “Special Law for Nation’s Balanced Development” in 2003 and established the Presidential Committee on Balanced National Development
